The Problem
In many blocks of flats heated by a communal boiler, the system which controls the boiler cannot keep temperatures at comfortable levels for everyone. Residents report that they are either too cold or too hot. When flats overheat, residents open windows to let out the hot air which has cost so much to heat.
The Solution
PTL Control develops and installs heating control systems designed to ensure the comfort of all residents. We fit sensors and other equipment to create a “smart building thermostat” which responds continuously to changes in the weather, outside temperature, etc. to make the boiler work more intelligently and more efficiently. In addition to greater comfort, residents can save up to 20% on their fuel bills.
The changes to a typical communal boiler system are shown below.
Before any changes….
With the PTL Control system
For more information about our residential block heating systems have a look at our FAQs or see our Case study.
To find out what’s involved in upgrading a communal boiler system, see below…
What’s involved
Step 1: PTL Control meets the residents/landlord
We’ll explain what we offer and assess the building. The residents can then consider our report (prices and estimated savings) or invite us to present the report at a meeting.
Step 2: Installing the system
If the residents decide to go ahead, we’ll fit our discreet sensors in some of the flats and elsewhere and install equipment in the boiler room, working with the heating contractor.
Step 3: Running the system
We’ll check that the system is working as it should and then monitor and control the operation of the boiler 24/7. In periodical reports we’ll detail the fuel savings and the system performance.
